Survey on the interest and commitment of AIFM members to scientific activities (SicAS) - The initiative of the FutuRuS working group.

PURPOSE: The "FutuRuS" working group of the Italian Association of Medical Physics and Health Physics (AIFM) designed a survey (SicAS) to get feedback from its members regarding their interests and their experience in taking part in scientific activities and events, with the objective of focusing future efforts of the AIFM towards increasing the scientific activity of the medical physics expert (MPE). METHODS: SicAS was sent out in March 2022 to all AIFM members by newsletter and official communication. SicAS was structured into three sections: personal information and institution of affiliation information, involvement in scientific activities, interest in and commitment to scientific activities. Responses were collected in a fully anonymised mode from the Google Forms platform and analysed with descriptive statistics. RESULTS: Out of 1289 members (active at the end of 2021), 467 responded to the Survey (response rate of 36%). The Survey results highlighted that AIFM members ranked the involvement of the MPE in scientific activities as highly relevant to the profession. However, 34.7% indicated devoting less than 10% of their working time to scientific activities. 67.5% of the respondents were dissatisfied with the time spent on scientific activities. The primary barrier was the lack of time (77%), followed by a lack of mentoring (32%). CONCLUSIONS: SicAS highlighted the need for AIFM initiatives to support members' scientific activities. National societies should help develop and support networks between members, create links among universities, hospitals, research institutions and industries, and provide guidelines and learning platforms for enhancing the MPEs' involvement in scientific activities.

[The research activities based at the Department of Otorhinolaryngology of the Rostov State Medical University]. / Nauchnaia rabota LOR-kafedry Rostovskogo gosudarstvennogo meditsinskogo universiteta.

This article reports the results of the main fields of the scientific activities carried out by the research personnel of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology of the Rostov State Medical University. In addition the data on the history of the Department are presented beginning from the time of its foundation, together with the characteristic of its ongoing work and the main tendencies of its further development. The most important publications of the scientists of the Department are listed, the new research areas and prospects for the future studies and practical works along these lines are discussed.

Training in Psychology and the Institutional Scientific Initiation Scholarship Program / Formação em Psicologia e o Programa Institucional de Bolsas de Iniciação Científica / Formación en Psicología y Programa Institucional de Becas de Iniciación Científica

This study has investigated how the Institutional Scientific Initiation Scholarship Program (PIBIC, in Portuguese), strategic initiative for research training at the undergraduate level, contributes to the formation of psychologists. Electronic questionnaires were sent to the PIBIC scholarship students of psychology in Brazil (622; 104 answered), containing questions about developed activities and tutoring. Scientific production was also investigated through their Lattes (curriculum vitae). Results show that: (1) students perform technical activities and reflective ones; (2) 50% execute a personal scientific project; and (3) 25% of the students have published scientific articles or book chapters, demonstrating that they are possibly excluded from this phase of the research process. However, the proximity with the advisor is related to the accomplishment of tasks, which contributes to a reflective training. Finally, it is emphasized the potential role for the undergraduate education to develop more critical psychologists able to propose contextualized practices.(AU)

Este trabalho investigou como o Programa Institucional de Bolsas de Iniciação Científica (PIBIC), iniciativa estratégica para a formação em pesquisa na graduação, contribui para a formação dos psicólogos. Foram enviados questionários eletrônicos para todos os bolsistas alunos de Psicologia (622; 104 responderam) com questões sobre atividades e orientação. Investigou-se a produção científica por meio de consulta aos currículos Lattes. Dentre os resultados obtidos destacam-se: (1) os bolsistas executam desde atividades mais técnicas até as mais reflexivas; (2) metade deles desenvolve um projeto de pesquisa individual; (3) menos de 25% dos estudantes publicaram artigos ou capítulos de livros, demonstrando possível exclusão dessa fase. Contudo, a proximidade com o orientador relaciona-se à realização de tarefas que favorecem a formação crítico-reflexiva. Por fim, destaca-se o potencial do PIBIC para a formação de psicólogos mais críticos e capazes de propor inovações e práticas contextualizadas.(AU)

Este trabajo analizó cómo el Programa Institucional de Becas de Iniciación Científica (PIBIC), contribuye en la formación de psicólogos, siendo ésta una iniciativa estratégica de investigación en la graduación. Se enviaron cuestionarios electrónicos para todos los alumnos becarios de Psicología (622; 104 respondieron) con preguntas sobre actividades y orientación. Se investigó la producción científica por medio de consulta a los currículos Lattes. Entre los resultados obtenidos se destacan: (1) Los becarios ejecutan desde las actividades más técnicas hasta las de mayor reflexión; (2) La mitad de ellos desarrollan un proyecto de investigación individual; (3) menos del 25% de los estudiantes publicaron artículos o capítulos de libros, demostrando esto, una posible exclusión de esta fase. Sin embargo, la proximidad con el orientador se relaciona con la realización de tareas que favorecen la formación crítico-reflexiva. Finalmente, se destaca el potencial del PIBIC para la formación de psicólogos más críticos y capaces de proponer innovaciones y prácticas contextualizadas.(AU)

Producción científica sobre fútbol en revistas españolas de ciencias de la actividad física y del deporte / Produção científica sobre futebol em revistas espanholas de ciências da atividade física e esportes / Scientific production on football in spanish journals of physical activity and sport sciences

Este estudio analiza, desde un punto de vista bibliométrico, los artículos sobre fútbol publicados en 40 revistas españolas incluidas en la categoría de “Deportes” del Catálogo Latindex, entre los años 2001 y 2012. Los aspectos analizados fueron: (1) número de artículos publicados sobre fútbol, porcentaje respecto al total de artículos, y distribución según revistas, (2) evolución temporal, y (3) disciplinas presentes. Los resultados muestran que la producción científica sobre fútbol ha sido relevante (7,9% del total de artículos publicados), creciente, multidisciplinar y dispar entre las disciplinas y revistas, destacando las revistas y disciplinas de psicología, legislación y organización y gestión.

Os aspectos analisados foram: (1) O número de artigos publicados sobre o futebol, percentagem relativa ao total de artigos e distribuição segundo as revistas; (2) Evolução temporal; (3) Disciplinas presentes. Os resultados mostram que a produção científica sobre o futebol foi relevante (7,9% do total de artigos publicados), crescente, multidisciplinar e díspar entre as disciplinas e revistas, destacando-se as revistas e disciplinas de psicologia, de legislação, de organização e de gestão.

Study analyzes, from a bibliometric perspective, papers published in 40 Spanish journals under the category “deportes” (sports) of the Latindex Catalogue, between 2001 and 2012. Aspects analyzed include: (1) number of papers published about football; percentage regarding total papers published; and distribution among journals; (2) evolution over time; and (3) disciplines. Results showed that the scientific production on football was prominent (7.9% of total published papers), on the rise, multidisciplinary, and unequal among journals and disciplines. The most outstanding disciplines were those related to Psychology, Law, Organization, and Management.
